The Strategic Account Manager is responsible for managing client relationships, leading strategic conversations, and ensuring clients clearly understand the value, progress, and direction of their marketing programs.
This role acts as the primary point of contact between clients and the internal marketing, content, SEO, PPC, web, and development teams. The ideal candidate is not expected to be the technical expert in every area, but must be able to understand digital marketing strategy, ask the right questions, translate specialist recommendations into client-friendly language, and proactively manage client expectations.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Account Leadership
- Lead client meetings with confidence, clarity, and preparation.
- Translate campaign performance, website updates, SEO/PPC activity, and technical recommendations into a clear business context.
- Work with internal specialists to understand what is happening within each account and communicate that strategically to the client.
- Support quarterly reviews, annual planning, proposal discussions, and strategic recommendations.
- Identify opportunities to improve performance, expand services, or adjust direction when needed.
Client Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for assigned clients.
- Build strong, professional relationships based on trust, responsiveness, and accountability.
- Understand each client’s business, goals, challenges, industry, competitors, and internal pressures.
- Maintain consistent communication with clients through meetings, emails, updates, and follow-ups.
- Proactively identify concerns before they escalate into larger client satisfaction issues.
- Ensure client requests are clearly documented, assigned, prioritized, and followed through.
Reporting & Performance Conversations
- Review campaign and website performance regularly.
- Prepare reporting meetings by understanding key wins, concerns, trends, and recommendations.
- Present reports in a way that connects marketing activity to business goals.
- Help clients interpret metrics without overwhelming them with unnecessary detail.
- Identify when performance changes require deeper analysis from the internal team.
- Ensure reports include meaningful insights, not just data summaries.
Required Skills & Experience
- 3–5+ years of experience in account management, client services, digital marketing, or a related role.
- Experience working in a digital marketing agency or similar client-facing environment is strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of SEO, PPC, content marketing, websites, analytics, and lead generation.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to manage multiple clients, priorities, timelines, and internal requests.
- Strong meeting leadership and presentation skills.
- Ability to explain technical or marketing concepts in simple, client-friendly language.
- Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
- Comfortable navigating difficult client conversations professionally.
Nice-to-Have Experience
- Experience with Google Ads, Google Analytics, Search Console, CallRail, HubSpot, WordPress, or similar platforms.
- Experience managing lead generation clients.
- Experience working with home services, B2B, franchise, co-op, logistics, or professional services clients.
- Familiarity with project management tools such as Teamwork, Asana, ClickUp, or Monday.com.
- Experience supporting quarterly business reviews or strategic planning meetings.
